for those not in the know, night witches were russian lady bombers who bombed the shit out of german lines in WW2. Thing is though, they had the oldest, noisiest, crappest planes in the entire world. The engines used to conk out halfway through their missions, so they had to climb out on the wings mid flight to restart the props. the planes were also so noisy that to stop germans from hearing them combing and starting up their anti aircraft guns, they’d climb up to a certain height, coast down to german positions, drop their bombs, restart their engines in midair, and get the fuck out of dodge.
their leader flew over 200 missions and was never captured.
how the fuck is this not taught in every single history class ever

just realized that none of these people are going to comfortably accept a 16 minute joanna newsom song
“Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. It is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. The old law of an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding; it seeks to annihilate rather than to convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys a community and makes brotherhood impossible.” (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)
I think there are plenty of good people in America, but there are also plenty of bad people in America and the bad ones are the ones who seem to have all the power and be in these positions to block things that you and I need. Because this is the situation, you and I have to preserve the right to do what is necessary to bring an end to that situation, and it doesn’t mean that I advocate violence, but at the same time I am not against using violence in self-defense. I don’t even call it violence when it’s self-defense, I call it intelligence. (Malcolm X)

let’s talk about this for a second
So twitter is the new YouTube?
Why is it that every fucking time something happens to Japan, Americans instantly start shouting about how it’s for ‘Pearl Harbour.’ Are they aware America dropped TWO nuclear bombs on Japan for the Pearl Harbour attacks? The American retaliation killed more Japanese people and ruined even more lives than Pearl Harbour ever did. About 2,000-2,500 people died at Pearl Harbour. The nuking of Japan killed, at the lowest estimate, 150,000 people. Shut the fuck up. You got your ‘revenge.’
Sidenote: isn’t the joy of winning supposed to come from, ya know, the winning? Does making the loser feel like shit have to be so prominent? Does this happen in sports everywhere, or just in America?

"I know if you smile at somebody, and they smile back, you’ve just decided that something shitty is going to happen. You might have a nice couple of dates, but then she’ll stop calling you back and that’ll feel shitty. Or you’ll date for a long time, but then she’ll have sex with one of your friends or you’ll have sex with one of hers, and that’ll be shitty. Or you’ll get married, and it won’t work out, and you’ll get divorced and split your friends and money, and that’s horrible. Or you’ll meet the perfect person, who you love infinitely, and you even argue well and you grow together and you have children and then you get old together and then she’s gonna die."
Louis C.K. (Louie, Season 1 Episode 1)
every now and then I start writing a post about dating and love, where I try to figure out what the hell it even is - and I never get more than three or four lines in before I get frustrated and give up.
so let me just go ahead with a question. what the hell is love? and how do you find it? do you date until you get lucky, or do you wait around trying to talk to people until you get lucky? is it all about luck, or hard work and terrible conversations
EDIT: it’s not about love - it’s more about who you like, and who likes you. which is different from loving.
