when you are a library, your primary functions are to:

  1. hold books
  2. let people see and look at your books
  3. let members of your library check out your books so they may bring them home for limited periods of time

If you choose to be open on a Sunday from 9am to 5pm, you are, by the definition of being open, adhering to the above principles, the ones which define your institution. that is to say, you are supposed to let people look at and check out your books out during your hours of operation.

when you choose your Sunday hours of operation, but refrain from allowing people the option of #3 during those hours, you are, by definition, being dicks. not allowing people to make use of one your primary functions during your hours of operation is a major influence on being dicks.

when your primary system of lending the books is a machine, one which requires absolutely no human interaction on your part, and thus no retaining of employees beyond the bare mininum one would expect for an institution’s hours of operation, and you decide to turn them off for your hours of operation, you are being huge dicks.

when you then decide to, during your hours of operation, to close and lock the doors to all your books, so that those who may come during your hours of operation cannot even look at the books you hold (see #2) then the extent of your being dicks cannot be described in words.

In conclusion, fuck you.
